Nicole Brookshire is co-chair of Cooley’s public companies practice. She practices corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on the representation of late-stage private and public companies and investment banks in capital markets transactions as well as the representation of publicly traded companies. She has counseled public and private company clients in a full range of general corporate and corporate and securities matters, including public offerings, strategic corporate relationships, SEC reporting and compliance, and corporate governance matters.
David Brown is Senior Managing Director and the Head of Equity Capital Markets Advisory at Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC, an affiliate of Ernst & Young LLP. He is responsible for managing the equity-related dialogue across the firm’s extensive corporate client base, advising on structural, market, corporate finance and other critical issues that confront our clients. Tom Glocer is the founder and Managing Partner of Angelic Ventures, LP, a family office focusing on early-stage investments in financial technology, cyber defense and analytics. He is the former CEO of news and professional information provider Thomson Reuters Corp. and a director of Merck & Co., Inc., Morgan Stanley, K2 Intelligence, Publicis Groupe and the Atlantic Council. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Columbia University and a JD from Yale Law School.
Matthew King is President of Regional Operations and Corporate Development for Cottingham & Butler. In this role, he oversees the company’s growing set of regional offices and drives the development and execution of the firm’s growth strategy. Before joining Cottingham & Butler, Matt served as the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations for FanDuel, a venture-backed fantasy sports company. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from North Carolina State University.

He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and the author of the New York Times best seller The Industries of the Future, which explores the technological and economic trends and developments that will shape the next 10 years. Alec serves as an advisor to investors, corporations and government leaders to help them understand the intersection of geopolitics, markets and increasingly disruptive network technologies. He recently served as Senior Advisor for Innovation to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Carolyn Saacke is Chief Operating Officer, Capital Markets at the NYSE, responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the private equity, venture capital, investment banking, legal, professional services and advisory communities. She also oversees key IPO transactions and special projects. Carolyn previously was in the investment banking units of Bear Stearns, Citigroup and Deloitte and served as Vice President of Strategy and Finance for Cendant Corporation. Carolyn earned her MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her BA in Economics from Cornell University.
Derek Steinhiser is a partner in the Financial Accounting and Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young LLP with a focus on a number of industries, including technology, media and entertainment, industrial products, and real estate. As the Northeast IPO Leader, he helps companies through transformational events and the related technical accounting and reporting aspects, and he has worked on a number of transactions, including IPO’s, spin-offs, sales and acquisitions. Derek earned his BS in Accounting from Saint Francis College. He is a CPA in the states of New York and Indiana.
Joel Trotter is the global Co-chair of the Public Company Representation Practice and the Co-chair of the national office of Latham & Watkins LLP. As one of two lawyers on the IPO Task Force, he served as a principal author of the IPO-related provisions of the JOBS Act of 2012. Joel has advised issuers and underwriters in over 150 IPOs in which he served as Latham’s national office advisor on complex issues. He was selected by Law360 as one of the “10 Most Admired Securities Attorneys” from more than 1,000 nominations.
